About Maxwell Reichert

About

Maxwell Reichert is a sound healer and somatic practitioner whose work sits at the crossroads of contemplative science and contemplative tradition. Trained in sound therapy at the Globe Institute and certified as a Reiki Master through the Integrative Energy Medicine Institute, Reichert has spent years refining a practice built on vibroacoustic sound, breath, and somatic awareness — modalities he uses to construct what he calls a "field of safety," within which clients descend into a liminal, hypnagogic state suspended between waking and sleep.

His approach is informed as much by the laboratory as by the lineage. A certified 200-hour yoga instructor and an ongoing student of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies' core shamanism curriculum, Reichert is also completing coursework toward a MicroBachelors in Neuroscience with HarvardX, bringing a rigorous, evidence-oriented lens to practices often relegated to the purely experiential. Core shamanism — a non-culturally-specific framework developed to be practiced without drawing on the living traditions of any particular Indigenous or ethnic community — offers Reichert a way to engage seriously with altered states of consciousness and ancestral practice while remaining attentive to questions of lineage, appropriation, and respect.

This dual fluency has made Reichert's practice a distinctive resource within one of the country's great academic communities: he works regularly with Yale students, faculty, and visiting scholars from around the world, many of whom arrive as skeptics of the experiential and leave as students of it. His sessions are less performance than inquiry — an invitation to hold scientific rigor and spiritual curiosity in the same room, and to ask what happens to the nervous system, and to the self, when both are given equal weight.
